Vinita Shekar is an international dental graduate from India and came to United Kingdom in 1999. She completed her junior doctor training at various London hospitals while completing her international qualifying exams, Membership of Faculty of Dental surgery with Royal College of surgeons of England. In addition, she completed LLM in Legal Aspects of Medical Practice from Cardiff Law School in 2010. She was awarded Fellowship by Assessment in 2021 by Faculty of Dental Surgery, Royal College of Surgeons of England. Currently she is working as specialty doctor in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Ninewells Hospital. She is co-chair of SAS forum of Royal College of Surgeons of England and Education Advisor for SAS Doctors and Dentists in NHS Tayside. She was a panel member for Review of Diversity and Leadership of RCSEng. Alongside her clinical career, she represents her SAS colleagues on council of British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Her past experience of other management roles include Investigating Officer for Doctors in Difficulty, Whistle Blowing advocate, SAS representative on LNC, Clinical Audit Lead, Clinical Governance Lead, Member of Morbidity and Mortality Steering group.
