Tariq Husain is a Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine at London North West University Healthcare Trust. In the world prior to covid-19, his anaesthetic time was spent doing vascular and colorectal. He was the ICU Lead for the Trust from 2014-2018, before stepping down, however stepped back into the role in March 2020, to manage the ICU again during the covid-19 pandemic. One of the ICUs he led was described as ‘ground zero’ during the first covid-19 wave, initially admitting and stabilising more covid-19 patients than any other ICU in the country, by some margin. He has a MA in Medical Ethics and has a particular interest in treatment escalation and renal replacement in ICU. In 2018, he was appointed as the Joint Regional Clinical Lead for Organ Donation for London. He works with the passionate and dedicated Organ Donation Team to champion and maximise deceased donation within the diverse population that live in London.
