Kevin Turner trained in Urology in Oxford, Edinburgh and Melbourne. In 2015 he co-founded the Bournemouth Surgeon Wellbeing Research Team. The team aims to generate data concerning the psychological health of surgeons focusing on the impact of adverse events, to develop interventions designed to ameliorate this impact and to increase surgeon resilience. Results of the team’s national survey have been published in the BJS, an RCT of a resilience training intervention for surgical trainees has been completed, and in 2020 (with RCS England) the team led the panel that wrote the RCS Good Practice Guide “Supporting surgeons after adverse events.” Kevin is currently clinical lead for the RCS England SUPPORT Improvement Collaborative which seeks to enable Trusts to design, deliver, and sustain peer to peer surgeon support programmes.
