Jag Dhanda is a UK trained Consultant Maxillofacial/ Head and Neck Reconstructive Surgeon and Clinical Reader with a specialist interest in head and neck cancer and utilisation of immersive technology in surgical education. He has multiple awards including a recent presidents prize for his research on iKnife technology and robotic surgery for head and neck cancer. He is the only UK surgeon to have obtained the college, specialty and faculty research fellowships from the Royal College of Surgeons of England and he is the programme director for the MSc programme in Implant Dentistry at the University of Brighton Medical School. Jags has completed basic, higher and advanced surgical training as well as a doctorate in philosophy (PhD). He is on the specialist register and actively involved in cancer research having both a Senior Lecturers position at Imperial College London and a Clinical Readers position at Brighton and Sussex Medical School. He has trained in some of the most prestigious units in the UK including London, Birmingham, Bristol, Liverpool and East Grinstead and is a member of council for the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons as well as chair of the postgraduate committee for the Faculty of Dental Surgery, Royal College of Surgeons of England. He is the founder and clinical lead for Virtual Reality in Medicine and Surgery, a free training resource utilising virtual reality technology.
