Irrum graduated from Imperial College London with a Masters of Public Health and more recently secured a Postgraduate Diploma in Sustainability Studies. Irrum manages the Academic Surgical Unit of the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre and has comprehensive knowledge of Research and Outcomes. She has published in peer-reviewed journals and often presents nationally and internationally.
Irrum played a leading role under the supervision of Professor Field in the development of the GIRFT and SWLEOC Elective Hub Toolkit. The purpose of this toolkit is to show aspiring surgical hubs a detailed study of processes, job roles and patient pathways within a well-established elective orthopaedic hub (https://girft-hubtoolkit.org.uk/).
Irrum is the Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity Representative and Research Committee Representative for British Orthopaedic Sports Trauma and Arthroscopy Association, and is an active member of the British Orthopaedic Association, National Orthopaedic Alliance, Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation and the Imperial College London Alumni Service.
