Emma trained as an operating department practitioner in the British Army qualifying in 2002. After 10 years of service she then joined the NHS in 2006 based in Teeside. She completed her SCP training in 2012. As a senior SCP Emma specialises in upper limb surgery and leads the shoulder instability service. Emma completed her MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice in 2020. She is leading on several service improvement projects and is QSIR trained and member of the Faculty of Perioperative Care RCS Ed.
