Miss Celia Theodoreli-Riga is the Head of the London Specialty School of Surgery and is responsible for the quality of surgical training in London, UK’s largest surgical training programme. Celia is a Vascular Surgeon and a Clinical Senior Lecturer at Imperial College London. She previously served as the STC Chair and Training Programme Director for Vascular Surgery. Her clinical and research interests focus on innovative techniques for the treatment of aortic, arterial and venous disease. She has significant experience in Medtech and clinical translation of healthcare technologies and sits on the UKRI/EPSRC Healthcare Technologies SAT Board. She formed the team that performed the world’s first robot-assisted endovascular aneurysm repair at Imperial in 2008, and has the largest experience of robot-assisted endovascular therapies worldwide. Her research has won 30 national and international prizes, attracting over £10million in funding. She has an international reputation as a speaker with over 300 podium presentations, over 100 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters. Celia has been a keen advocate for education and surgical trainees. She remains committed to applying principles of safety and quality towards the development of high-performing surgical teams.
