State-of-the-art Photo Surgical Simulation for Facial Reconstruction demonstrated at Future Surgery 2022

State-of-the-art Photo Surgical Simulation for Facial Reconstruction demonstrated at Future Surgery 2022
Consultant Oral, Maxillofacial & Aesthetic Surgeon Miss Natasha Berridge will be demonstrating the role of photo surgical simulation in planning for Facial Feminisation Surgery (FFS) at Future Surgery 2022.

Facial feminisation surgery consists of a range of elective reconstructive surgical procedures that change the shape and size of the face to become more feminine.

Successful outcomes are largely dependent upon the surgical technique performed, anticipated soft tissue changes and patient expectations.

For decades, clinical photography has played an integral role in patient record keeping particularly in a specialist field as visual as facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. Today, rapid advances in software and image processing have allowed photo surgical simulation to become a highly effective tool for both surgeon and patient.

Speaking about the session, Miss Berridge said: “Photo surgical simulation not only transforms the surgeon’s view into realistic post-operative images thereby aiding precise surgical planning but also allows our patients to visualise how they may look after surgery, which proves to be an invaluable visual frame of reference and communication tool. It’s extremely innovative, and I am looking forward to highlighting this technique at Future Surgery 2022.”

London-based Consultant Oral, Maxillofacial & Aesthetic Surgeon Miss Berridge is dually qualified in Medicine and Dentistry and holds the prestigious Training Interface Group (TIG) Fellowship in Reconstructive Aesthetic Surgery.

Her main sub-speciality interests are facial feminisation surgery, reconstructive facial plastics secondary to skin cancers and non-surgical aesthetics. Miss Berridge is a highly dedicated, highly skilled clinician who is passionate about her profession and is ever conscious of the responsibility and privilege it is to have patients place their faith and trust in her.
