2023 attendance at a glance:

In 2023, the show saw over 2500+ attendees from surgical and operating theatre teams come together to take part in over 100 educational talks, seminars and workshops.

The largest cohort consisted of Consultant Surgeons and Speciality Doctor Surgeons, contributing seasoned expertise to enrich the discussions. This attendance was closely followed by Theatre / Operating Room Nurses and Practitioners. Their significant presence underscored the pivotal role these frontline healthcare professionals play in the intricacies of surgical care.

The inclusivity of the attendee breakdown highlighted the comprehensive representation of professionals, from seasoned consultants to speciality doctors, fellows, and even those in training, creating a collaborative and inclusive atmosphere.

The event sought insights and contributions from professionals from different backgrounds to enrich the future-facing discussions, including Engineers, Biomedical Scientists, and Heads of Healthcare Technology – all of which showcasing the intersection of healthcare and technology. Equally, beyond surgical specialties, the participation of roles like Head of Surgical Services, Patient Flow Coordinators, Course Managers, and Quality and Safety Advisors underscored a comprehensive approach to organizational management and patient safety.

This varied assembly fostered collaboration and knowledge exchange, creating a dynamic environment. As we look ahead to 2024, we are excited to welcome the full range of roles paving the way for the future of surgery.

What our 2023 visitors had to say:

"It’s been really good. It’s been good to reach out to smaller companies that are just starting out in this area, whereas some of the bigger, more specialised conferences tend to be dominated by the bigger companies. It’s also been good to catch up with people that are interested in innovation." - Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon

"I’ve just started my consultant practice so I’m interested in teaching and I wanted to look at virtual reality platforms for teaching. But also, I’ve never been before and I just really wanted to see what it was like. It's definitely worth it.” - Consultant Surgeon

"I’m really interested in the hands-on training part. To me, that’s the most exciting part because pretty much all the rest are things that I already know. The training part was nice. I already booked a couple of experiences with Asensus Surgical. It’s the only surgical platform that I didn’t know. It’s very exciting. Even of you are a surgeon or a technician, it’s a good idea to come because here you can find a melting pot in between the two expertise, and that’s great." - MD in General Surgery

"Today is awesome. I have gone to many theatres and seen presentations, and I’ve been looking out for new innovations. So I really like the simulation courses, that’s the main reason I’m here, along with looking for new presentations." - Senior Clinical Fellow

“The future surgery show is a seminar especially designed for operating theatre staff from all disciplines. It provides a platform to allow for key operation, strategic, safety, inspirational and next generation patient care. For me, as both a speaker and participant, the variety, flexible and openness of being able to attend talks, from both clinicians and non-clinicians was a chance to listen to and ask questions on current topics. If you didn't make the show in 2022, I advise that you attend in 2023, not only for (CPD) but a chance to network and share the knowledge we have all gained and continue to gain." - Theatre Lead

"For me, as usual, it is a crucial event for those innovating in the field of surgery. This year especially the spotlight on safe simulation & educational methods has brightened, and the need to utilise this, amongst other methods, to retain our talented staff is higher than ever. It was also very promising to have groundbreaking and frank conversations with ASiT about the changes that need to be implemented in surgical training to ensure that the surgeons of tomorrow are not only competent, but highly motivated and innovative individuals." - Clinical Excellence Lead
