Solving surgical challenges in partnership with the Royal College of Surgeons of England
This year, we are ready to do it all again in partnership with the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
Team Consulting is partnering with the Royal College of Surgeons of England (RCS England) to run a series of innovation events to help surgeons unleash their creative potential and shape the future of surgical technology. In this events, we explore how to incorporate user design, navigate regulatory compliance and discover pathways to funding and more.
Our 2023 clinical innovation success stories:
Addressing user challenges in laparoscopic surgery
NHS consultant surgeon Duncan Light challenged Team to find a low-cost method for improving visibility during laparoscopic surgery. We created a low-cost, consumable device concept which enables simple and effective cleaning of the laparoscope, ready for patent file by Duncan.
Delivering haemostats in laparoscopic surgery
We worked with Paul Hayes, CMO at Selentus Science and vascular surgeon, to develop a tool to quickly and safely deliver a large surface area haemostat pad to bleeds during laparoscopic surgery. We created a novel prototype solution that is now under patent review by Selentus Science, who plan to progress the surgical device into a full development.
A new method for interventional cardiac procedures
We partnered with consultant interventional cardiologist, Steve Hoole, to solve a clinical need: to reduce the complexity and patient recovery time when accessing the axillary artery during interventional cardiology procedures. Team developed a novel concept that improves accuracy during cardiac intervention and makes the procedure safer for patients and easier for clinicians. Steve has now set up Swerve Medical – a leading medical device company specialising in innovative vascular access devices for improved patient care.
