How to engage and support the Core Trainees
This year the Oxford Foundation Trainees Surgical Society (FTSS) celebrates its 10th anniversary. From its origins in 2014 under the stewardship of Mike Siva Consultant HPB surgeon and then Regional Surgical Ambassador RCSEd, we now have 15 FTSSs representing all 4 nations. Closely aligned with the College’s Regional Surgical Ambassador (RSA) network, the FTSS initiative offers a platform for foundation doctors and medical students considering surgical careers to attend educational events, develop their understanding of surgical training pathways and interact with the College prior to membership. With hugely successful regional activities the societies now have a central National FTSS based at the College and an annual National FTSS conference each year. The College is currently establishing a Core Trainee Forum in order to support these foundation trainees through the next phase of formative years of training
