Thorascopic vertebral body tethering for scoliosis
First to trial this new promising technique in the UK. A non-fusion surgical technique that aims to create a straight spine in children diagnosed with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis. Vertebral bogy tethering (VBT) is being trialled in the UK for the first time. A simulation of the technically challenging technique will be performed on the ABHI’s state-of-the-art ‘Operating Theatre of The Future’. The ground-breaking technique was developed in the USA, where it has recently become widely practised to correct scoliosis while still preserving spinal flexibility.
