Mitigating for nerve injury during Regional Anaesthesia: introducing SAFIRA®

SAFIRA®: SAFer Injection for Regional Anaesthesia is an innovative new technology which is revolutionising the regional anaesthesia process. Join the session in the Surgical Simulation Theatre to see for yourself how this new technology transforms Regional Anaesthesia into a single operator procedure, giving anaesthetists full control of injection, as well as enhancing confidence through a built-in safety mechanism to automatically prevent injection above 20psi thus helping to reduce the risk of nerve injury in patients.  Already in use by clinicians across the world, feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, including reports of how the device facilitates hydrodissection and reduces the amount of local anaesthetic required for a successful block. SAFIRA® recently won the HSJ Patient Safety Innovation of the Year 2021. Dr Ben Fox, Consultant Anaesthetist, will demonstrate the device and share his experiences of introducing the new technology into clinical practice.
