Surgical tourniquets have been used in Orthopaedic limb surgery for over 100 years. However, using traditional pneumatic tourniquets can lead to several issues including incomplete exsanguination and infection risk. There is now a lot of research suggesting that pneumatic surgical tourniquets should be abandoned completely.

This presentation will briefly explore pneumatic tourniquets and some of the concerns and issues surrounding their use in orthopaedic surgery, before going on to introduce our solution that provides all the benefits of tourniquets with improved patient safety reduced theatre time.
